The California Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) Initiative has completed revisions to the Regional Profile of the North Coast Study Region (California-Oregon Border to Alder Creek), which provides background information to be used during the MLPA Initiative's marine protected area planning process. The regional profile was revised based on hundreds of comments provided by a broad array of organizations and individuals. Thank you to those that have helped to improve the usefulness of this document!

While comments specific to this document are not being requested, the MLPA Initiative encourages interested parties to provide additional information for MPA planning where appropriate. Additional information can be provided by sending an email to MLPAComments@resources.ca.gov; spatial data layers should also be sent to help@marinemap.org.

A final update to the regional profile will be made in April 2010 with the addition of an appendix providing information regarding California north coast tribes and tribal communities and additional seafloor mapping data. This 'third' edition of the regional profile will also be made available in print form at various locations in northern California, including public libraries and California Department of Fish and Game offices; another announcement will be sent at that time.
